During its meeting on 25 June 2025, based on the results of the consultation, the Federal Council adjusted the key elements for the dispatch on relief package 27. The relief package is necessary to balance federal receipts and expenditure in the years ahead. The Federal Council is generally maintaining the package, but is making concessions to the cantons in particular with respect to some points. Despite the relief package, deficits running into the billions are looming from 2029 onwards, due primarily to stronger growth in the case of the Armed Forces. In addition, the Federal Council adopted the 2026 budget and the financial plan for 2027 to 2029.
