Parliament adjusted and approved the 2024 budget on 21 December. Overall, there is a financing deficit of CHF 2.6 billion. This includes extraordinary expenditure of CHF 2.4 billion. The debt brake requirements will thus be met.
Budgeted expenditure amounts to CHF 85.7 billion and the Confederation is reckoning on receipts of CHF 83.1 billion. This results in a financing deficit of CHF 2.6 billion. This deficit is mainly due to extraordinary expenditure of 2.4 billion in total, on the one hand for people seeking protection from Ukraine, and on the other for a capital contribution to SBB.
A financing deficit of just under CHF 500 million is expected in the ordinary budget. The debt brake requirements will thus narrowly be met.
