In the spotlight – The Federal Council adopts the dispatch on the 2027 budget relief program
At its meeting on September 19, 2025, the Federal Council adopted the dispatch on the 2027 budget relief program. This program is essential to restoring the balance between the Confederation’s revenues and expenditures in the coming years. The targeted relief amounts to CHF 2.4 billion in 2027 and around CHF 3 billion in 2028 and 2029. Nevertheless, expenditures will continue to rise sharply despite the program’s implementation. The Council of States will begin parliamentary deliberations during the winter session.
